Cafe La Moda Ui

My Role

Ui Designer

The brief

Cafe La Moda is an fashion shopping site, similar to the likes of Lyst and Shopstyle. The site has a bounce rate of over 70%, so there is a need to make certain that users stick around until they find exactly what they need to buy, exit the site and of course become a conversion on the affiliated site.

The problem

Navigation is non-existent on the site. After studying the taxonomy for over 2000 categories I came up with a formula that would help to simplify any new categories coming in on a customers feed. My intention being that in future the method would be easy to use for any group of categories. The site I designed could be duplicated and used for the creation of niche affiliate sites, such as; high luxury or eco fashion.

A colour co-ordinated category tree system matches where each category shows in the site menu, allowing the team to visualise where each category might sit. These were sorted into 'category' or 'product type' allowing categories marked as product types to appear within the filtering system while the user browses the a list of products.

The new homepage is a work in progress and will give users multiple ways to shop. Affiliate fashion sites do well on categories like 'bags' being high level, shop by size is also popular.
